1st Reconciliation

My daughter is celebrating her first reconciliation this month and I wanted to do something special for her. She has put in almost 3 months of classes to prepare and the day is fast approaching. I put together this card using my Copic markers, which I have learned to love since taking a Copic class this past weekend. What I thought I knew about them turned out to be not much. I love coloring again and jump at any chance I can to use them. Enjoy this card and I am sending out a very big Congrats Grace and we are very proud of you!

Christmas Raffle Time Again!

It's that time a year again when the kids school puts together a great Christmas Raffle. There are some great prizes to be given away and the kids love picking which slot to put their ticket into in hopes of winning that prize. Last year I put together a 16x16 size countdown to Christmas advent calendar and wanted to do something along the same line this year. My amazing girlfriend had two spare drawer boxes that I knew would work great for my project. I decided to make one red and green and the other blues. They turned out great and hopefully will be loved at the raffle. This was a great project that could be used for many different things. I know that they are being decorated quite differently for my kids as a Christmas gift and I would love to post them on here, so check back after Christmas for other great decorating ideas. In the meantime please enjoy these!

Tis' the Season...

Aside from the snow, things around my house are starting to look a lot like Christmas. I love this time of year and not for the suspected reasons but because it is amazing to watch my kids take it all in. They too are starting to get excited and are on their best behavior as they know Santa will now be watching especially close to how they are behaving. Ok so my 10 year old is probably just playing along but that's just fine. It is still nice to see him getting excited. Our days are still filled with activities and so every chance I get to sit and scrap or sit at all I do it. I am getting to spend an entire day this coming weekend to scrapbook with some amazing friends. It has been a while and I am so looking forward to it. I will also be taking a Copic class and I will be sure to post my cards on Monday! Hope you are enjoying your day and thanks for stopping by!

Good Deal!

I have to share with you my latest find. I had to venture out to Airdrie this past weekend as that is where my sister lives. I decided to stop at the dollar store out there because it is an amazing dollar store! It is a Dollar Store with More. I love going in there as they usually have some great items and most are 1.00. As I made my way through the store I finally came to the scrapbooking isle, again amazing. This time around I managed to find some great 8x8 paper pads by Cosmo Cricket. These pads generally retail at Micheals for about 19.99 (at least) and at this dollar store they sell for 2.50!! Yes you read this correct....2.50!! Of course I picked up all 4 that they had. They were also selling the 12x12 pads for 6.00! Great deals to be had. I then picked up a card lacing kit also by Cosmo Cricket that I am posting today. This was an easy project and came in two styles, friends and dream. This one is friends and I did it of my kids. This kit also cost only 2.50. It just goes to show you don't have to spend alot to create something great!!

A little bit of ORANGE!

I love getting the chance to sit and scrap for my dayhome kids and although I have been finding it more and more difficult to get this time, I finally TOOK some time today. I spent a couple of hours putting together their layouts for October. I chose to use my color accent feature on my camera to capture the color orange. This feature is really neat as it simply pulls the color you chose out of the surrounding objects. I have included a photo of some flowers as well as my pumpkin (which was my inspiration) that have the color orange in them. What was really neat and not intentional was when I took the picture of the pumpkin, I added the flash which gave the photo a silvery look. I think it was a neat affect! You will see how this feature works in these photos. I then am posting my dayhome layout for the month using this cool feature. If your camera has this ability it would be great to see some of your photos....send them to me and I will post them on my blog!

Calgary Junior Idol Audition

So another interesting weekend our family had. I can truly tell you that although I am sad that my kids are growing up fast, with each year they show me more and more what they are made. of. My daughter Grace who is 9 is our performer and she can get out there and do anything she sets her mind to. This past weekend Calgary hosted the Calgary Junior Idol competition. Her vocal coach suggested to us that we register her to try out. She also wanted us to understand that this was a pretty tough competition as only 200 kids were able to audition and of those 200 only 20 get picked for semi-finals. Tough as it may be Grace was all over it. She loves getting in front of people to sing. We registered her and after receiving confirmation she was one of the 200 off we went to her audition. The first round of auditions was a closed audition, which basically meant no one could watch. Ok so now we wait....in she went and out she came confident she did her best. We had told her no matter what the outcome, what she did just getting in front of the judges alone was amazing and she should be proud. They told her that she would be notified within the next 48 hours as to whether or not she would be a semi-finalist. Again we wait....well after one night we were notified that Grace had received a call-back!!! She had made the top 20 and now would go on to compete in the next round. Again we are so proud of her because she has some amazing talent and all the hard work she puts into her vocal classes and dance classes has paid off for her and she is thrilled. My post for today is of Grace and her accomplishments so far through this amazing journey. Our next round of auditions is October 17th which is open to the public. I cannot wait to sit and watch our amazing daughter make us so proud. She loves the support she gets and with her we say 'Thanks'. Enjoy the double page layout and thanks for stopping by....

Let's Talk

So the big thing these days with everyone is texting. My two oldest also text and sometimes watching them leaves me in awe. I cannot get over how quick they! This post which is a double layout is about the whole texting thing. I caught Blake one afternoon just standing around texting. He seemed to be in his own world, away from it all. I was lucky enough to not have to stand too close to take some good pics or he would have probably given one of his "mom" comments. I did manage to get some great shots and the pictures on the layout will prove it. I love my kids and spend everyday "talking" to them so we don't lose our verbal communication between us because I know one day they too will talk to me without saying a word! Enjoy....

My Grace!

I had to post a couple of pics of my daughter Grace because she is just too cute!! She was getting ready for Jazz class the other day and decided she should jump around. I decided to pull out the camera because it is fun to watch her when she is in one of her goofy moods. Grace isn't shy about being on camera so we had a little fun with it and these are just two of the pictures that I took! Enjoy and I hope you get a laugh out of them as much as we did!

A Friendship

I am double posting today purely because my day has been a tough one. I have had some time to think about life and about friendships and have wondered why things happen when they do. Without going into detail, I was blessed today to receive a phone call from someone whom I have not spoken to in about a year. When the phone rang today and I realized who it was my heart honestly skipped a beat and I wasn't even sure I should answer. I did of course and am truly glad I did. I am not sure where life will take us from here but I am glad that we have taken the first step at reaching out again.... Thank You for reaching out, I have missed you!

"Thank-You"

Here is a simple card I did for a friend. I wanted to use fall colors even though the temperatures around Calgary are far from fall! We have been having a heat wave here for the past two weeks and I cannot believe that tomorrow the temperature is supposed to hit 33!! I don't know if I should bring out the pool again or not. I love just sitting and doing simple projects as it always gets me back into the scrapping mood. I am scheduled to attend a couple of all day scraps and hopefully I can pull off some great layouts! For now enjoy the card and thanks for stopping by....

Happy Birthday Mikayla

Another one of my loves is making cakes. I did this cake for one of my dayhome kids who is celebrating their 9th birthday this weekend. She is a great friend to my daughter Grace and even though Ella is younger she still makes her feel special. I wanted to do something unique and different for her and I think I accomplished it with this cake. Everything on this cake is edible except the around the box. I hope she loves it! Happy 9th Birthday Mikayla!
